What This App Is

The TAWF Scoreboard App is a free, self-serve tool for running a TAWF-style 3-on-3 team game — perfect for club nights, practice, and scrimmages. You set up two teams, score every match live, and share a read-only link so spectators can follow the action in real time.

Only the person running the game needs an account — they sign in with a one-time email link, no password to remember. Spectators need no account at all; they just open the share link or scan the QR code.

This is a streamlined version of the official TAWF format, built so anyone can run their own game in minutes. Want the full league rulebook? See How to Play and the Official Rules.

How a Game Is Structured

Two teams each field three athletes. You set three matches — one head-to-head pairing per slot — and each match is played across four rounds. That's 12 match-rounds in total, and the running score builds the whole way through.

For each of the three matches you choose the arm: left, right, or split — split plays left in rounds 1 & 2, then right in rounds 3 & 4.

How Scoring Works

Per Match-Round

+5Base score for a win. Only the winner scores points — the loser gets 0.
−1For each foul the winner commits — a clean win is worth more.
+1For each foul the loser commits — their mistakes add to your total.
+1Flash Pin — a clean, instant pin. Not available on a foul-out win.

Fouling Out

Reach 3 fouls in a match-round and you're fouled out — an automatic loss, no matter what happened at the table.

The Gamble

Each team gets one gamble per game. Declare it on a match-round before play starts and the points for that match-round are doubled (×2). If both teams gamble the same match-round, the points triple (×3) — a single match-round can swing the whole game.

Winning the Game

There's no points target to chase — the team with the most points after all 12 match-rounds wins.

What You Can Do

Running the game

  • Create a game and name both teams, pick their colours, and set the three athlete match-ups.
  • Score live — record the winner of each match-round, add fouls, and flag a flash pin.
  • Declare a gamble before a match-round to double down on the points.
  • Step back to fix any prior match-round; the score recomputes instantly.
  • Turn on Explain Scoring to show a plain-language breakdown of how each result was scored — on your board and on the spectator link.
  • End the game when all 12 match-rounds are done to lock in the final result.

For spectators

  • Share a read-only link or QR code — no account needed to watch.
  • Scores and match results update live as you run the game.
  • After the game ends, the link shows the full final board.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the TAWF Scoreboard App?+

A free, self-serve tool for running a TAWF-style 3-on-3 team game. You set up two teams of three athletes, score every match live, and share a read-only link so spectators can follow along in real time — ideal for club nights, practice, and scrimmages.

Is it free, and do I need an account?+

Yes, it is free. Only the person running the game needs an account, and they sign in with a one-time email link — no password. Spectators need no account at all; they just open the share link or scan the QR code.

How is a game structured?+

Two teams each field three athletes across three matches, and every match is played over four rounds — 12 match-rounds in total. For each match you choose the arm: left, right, or split (left for rounds 1–2, then right for rounds 3–4).

How is scoring calculated?+

A win is worth a base of 5 points. The winner loses 1 point for each foul they commit and gains 1 point for each foul the loser commits, plus 1 more for a flash pin. The loser scores 0, a match-round can never go below 0, and then any gamble multiplier is applied.

What is a foul-out?+

Reaching 3 fouls in a match-round is a foul-out — an automatic loss regardless of the result at the table. A flash pin cannot be claimed on a foul-out win.

What is a gamble?+

Each team gets one gamble per game. Declared on a match-round before play starts, it doubles the points for that match-round (×2). If both teams gamble the same match-round, the points triple (×3).

How do you win?+

There is no points target to reach — the team with the most points after all 12 match-rounds wins.

How do spectators watch?+

Share the read-only link or QR code from the live game. The board updates in real time as you score, and once the game ends the same link shows the final result. No account is required to watch.

Is this the same as an official TAWF game?+

No. This is a simplified, self-serve version of the TAWF format for running your own games. Official TAWF games use the full league rulebook — see How to Play and the Official Rules for the complete format.
